ROAS & Profit Calculator

Most ROAS numbers hide whether you are actually making money. Enter your spend, revenue and margin and see your true ROAS, the break-even ROAS you have to beat, and the real profit your ads are throwing off.

The short version: a 4x ROAS can still lose money if your margins are thin. What matters is whether your ROAS beats your break-even ROAS, which is simply 1 divided by your profit margin. This calculator works out your break-even point, your profit after ad spend, and your profit-on-ad-spend, so you know if the account is truly winning.

Find your true ROAS, break-even point and profit

Enter the numbers for any period, a campaign, a month, or the whole account. Everything is calculated in your browser.

What you get

Two numbers change how you read every campaign: your break-even ROAS and your profit after ad spend. This calculator gives you both instantly from three inputs, then shows the full path from revenue to profit so you can see exactly where the money goes. If you set a target profit, it also tells you the precise ROAS you need to get there, which turns a vague goal into a number you can manage to.

How it works

  1. Enter the ad spend and the revenue those ads produced, for any period you like.
  2. Enter your gross profit margin, the percentage left after the cost of the product or service.
  3. Read your true ROAS, your break-even ROAS and your profit after ad spend at a glance.
  4. Open the full breakdown and, if you set a target, see the ROAS you need to hit it.

Why margin changes everything

Almost every free ROAS calculator does one sum: revenue divided by spend. That number feels good and tells you very little, because it ignores what it costs you to deliver the thing you sold. Two businesses with an identical 4x ROAS can be worlds apart: one with 60% margins is very profitable, the other with 20% margins is quietly losing money on every sale. The break-even ROAS, one divided by your margin, is the line that separates those two, and it is the number this tool puts front and centre. Once you know it, you can bid, budget and judge every campaign against whether it actually adds to profit, which is the difference between busy and successful.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good ROAS?
Any ROAS above your break-even ROAS. At a 25% margin you need 4x to break even; at 60% you break even near 1.7x. This tool shows your specific break-even point so good has a real definition for your business.
What is break-even ROAS?
The ROAS at which ads neither make nor lose money: 1 divided by your gross margin. Beat it and you profit; below it you lose money even while revenue comes in.
Why does a high ROAS still lose money?
Because ROAS ignores margin. A 4x ROAS on a 20% margin product loses money once you account for the cost of goods. That is the trap this calculator exposes.
What is POAS?
Profit on ad spend: the profit your ads generate divided by spend, rather than revenue divided by spend. It tells you whether a campaign truly adds to the bottom line.
Is it free?
Yes, free with no login, calculated in your browser. Share your details once to open the full breakdown and the target planner.
Should I optimize to ROAS or profit?
To profit where you can. Feeding profit or margin-adjusted values into bidding steers the platform toward what actually makes money. It takes setup, and it is what separates good accounts from great ones.
